We have been busy here at Pigeon Towers. Read on to find out what we have been up to this past month or so.
Yes, it’s another photo of a pigeon.
Our CEO, Mark Blayney, and I have been discussing ways to bring our readers more - more books, more Q&As, more content and more events.
One of the ideas I proposed was a live event. Why not invite authors and publishers to participate in author panels, Q&As and workshops with our readers and reviewers? We felt that putting publishers, authors and readers in the same room was a fantastic idea - especially when considering that our community is completely online.
So we sent out a survey and this is how our readers responded.
These are inspiring results. We are delighted that our readers want a live event. Now all we have to do is make it a reality. We are sharing these results with our publishers to garner interest and start the process of making PigeonLitFest a reality.Monthly Publisher Highlight
This month we are highlighting an independent publisher, Inkspot Publishing.
Founded by Cathy and Jurcell in 2022, Inkspot Publishing is a small, independent publishing house based in Oxfordshire.
‘Our focus is on great content, and we’re indifferent to who produces it. If we love your work, we'll publish it. We specialise in commercial Literary Fiction, although in 2024 we’ll see the publication of our first non-fiction book.’
A few Inkspot books we have serialised recently are Fireweed by Richard Vaughan Davies, Paradise Undone by Annie Dawid, Dark Road Home and All Grown Up by Inkspot’s founder and editor Catherine Evans.
All books serialised with us have been received with appreciation and adoration from our readers. They were thrilled to have the authors join the conversation while reading. We look forward to supporting this independent publisher and serialising the upcoming books by Inkspot and its authors.
We also had Q&A sessions with Catherine and Annie to discuss their books and The Pigeonhole experience. Their sessions will be available to watch on our YouTube channel very soon.
Special Events
Clare Pooley Live Q&A
We were delighted that author Clare Pooley not only participated in the serialisation of her book, she also attended an author Q&A, via Zoom, with our readers. Our readers adored Pooley’s latest book How to Age Disgracefuly.
Clare has serialised her previous books The Authenticity Project and The People on Platform 5 on The Pigeonhole. They were also adored by our readers and reviewers. One reader commented in the conversation, ‘I loved this book so much! I wish I could keep reading... hoping for a sequel.’
It was our pleasure to speak with Clare on Zoom about her book and experience with The Pigeonhole serialisation/s. Regarding her Pigeonhole experiences, Clare stated, ‘It is just so fascinating to be with people as they discover the story.’
Lisa Hall Live Q&A
Unlike Pooley, Lisa Hall experienced The Pigeonhole for the first time. She said, ‘It has been an experience… I have really enjoyed it.’
Lisa’s book The Case of the Singer and the Showgirl was serialised in mid-June with great appreciation. One reader stated, ‘I enjoyed this book. I found it entertaining. Lots of glitz and glamour! Hope we hear more from Lily & Co.’
Lisa also chatted with General Manager, Joanna McQueen, about writing, books and The Pigeonhole experience. You can watch Lisa Hall’s Q&A on our YouTube channel as well.
